What does it mean to give?
Genesis 14:18-20

In the Greek language, to tithe is the word “dekatos” [dek'-at-os], which means a tenth, or give the tenth part

To give offerings is the word “didomi” [did'-o-mee], which means to offer or give something to someone.

And to give alms is the word “eleemosyne” [e-le-ā-mosü'-nā], which means a donation to the poor

Paul encouraged the believers at Corinth to give offerings “...as he purposes in his heart,”Similarly, 2 Corinthians 9:7 connects our actions to God’s heart when Paul writes that Christians should give “not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.” “...my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Phil 4:19 “My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” I am persuaded that this promise is for the one who is generous with God. God cannot afford to lavish his gifts upon the stingy Christian, for he would only squander them upon his own selfish desires. And then Paul in our Galatian passage tells the saint that if he is liberal with God, he will reap spiritual blessings, but if he uses his money for his own selfish purposes, that money and what it will buy, will breed corruption in his life

the past. What is to be gained in forgiving is freedom.  You  don't
heal in order to forgive.  You  forgive  in  order  to heal. Forgiveness
is to set a  captive free and then to realize you were the captive.
You don't  forgive others for their sake; you  do it for your sake.
Those you need to forgive may never be aware of your choice to let
them off your hook. Forgiveness  is  the  fragrance that is left on the

Jesus gives us the pattern prayer in what is commonly known as
“The Lord’s Prayer.” In this model of  perfect prayer, He gives us a
law form to be followed, and yet one to be filled in and enlarged as we
may decide when we pray. The outlines and form are complete, yet it
is but an outline, with many a blank, which our needs and convictions
are to fill in.
Christ puts words on our lips, words which are to be uttered by
holy lives. Words belong to the life of prayer. Wordless prayers are
like human spirits; pure and high they may be, but too ethereal and
impalpable for earthly conflicts and earthly needs and uses. We must
have spirits clothed in flesh and blood, and our prayers must be
likewise clothed in words to give them point and power, a local
habitation, and a name.
This lesson of “The Lord’s Prayer,” drawn forth by the request
of the disciples, “Lord, teach us to pray,” has something in form and
verbiage like the prayer sections of the Sermon on the Mount. It is the
same great lesson of praying to “Our Father which art in Heaven,” and
is one of insistent importunity. No prayer lesson would be complete
without it. It belongs to the first and last lessons in prayer. God’s
Fatherhood gives shape, value and confidence to all our praying.
In this prayer He teaches His disciples, so familiar to thousands
in this day who learned it at their mother’s knees in childhood, the
words are so childlike that children find their instruction, edification
and comfort in them as they kneel and pray. The most glowing mystic
and the most careful thinker finds each his own language in these
simple words of prayer. Beautiful and revered as these words are, they
are our words for solace, help and learning.
He led the way in prayer that we might follow His footsteps.

didst Thyself pray!
